In Loving Memory
Of
Apostle Derek D. Kelly
Apostle Derek D. Kelly
I speak not only as a sibling but as someone who was blessed to share life’s journey with a remarkable soul. My brother was more than family, he was my confidant, my protector, my partner in laughter, and my anchor in storms. My brother left a mark on every heart he touched. He taught me strength isn’t about never falling but rising each time with grace and courage.
In the last sermon my brother preached, Saturday, November 29, 2025, his topic was Knowing the Value of Your Brokenness. The scriptures were Psalms 51:8 and Genesis 39:2. My brother, Apostle Derek D. Kelly, said although crayons are broken and don’t have the label on them, the purpose is still being fulfilled…they color. He also stated no matter what state you’re in; you will not leave this world until your purpose has been fulfilled. Apostle said go ahead and start your business. Let me tell you, I needed that encouragement. I launched my make-up business, Kelz DiMonz, April 2023. A lot happened between then and now. God, with His good self, saw fit to allow my brother to encourage me not to quit.
My brother’s life was a gift. His memory will always be a light that guides me. I will miss him every day, but I will honor him by living with the same loving kindness, humor, and courage Derek D. Kelly showed to the world.
In life you were my brother. In death, you’re my angel, always there to remind me never to give up because God gave me a wonderful gift.
